WEEKLY ONGOING CLASSES

Created by Gabrielle Roth and practiced by tens of thousands worldwide, 5Rhythms® is a philosophy, perspective, performance art and a dynamic movement practice rooted in the principle that if you put the psyche in motion it will heal itself. Movement is both the medicine and the metaphor, reaching across all languages, cultures and age groups to transform suffering into art, art into awareness, and awareness into action. Wherever the 5Rhythms are practiced, a community is born to dance, to sweat, to change, to support, and to provide a safe space for each of us to shatter the ego’s hold and awaken the juicy, unpredictable, fascinating, edge-walking, rock star part of ourselves that yearns to be free.

Creativity. Connection. Community.

SWEAT YOUR PRAYERS™

When: Sunday mornings, 11am - 12:30pm

Where: Bingen Society Hotel Gym, 210 N. Cedar St. Bingen Wa.

Cost: $15 or your studio class card

$65 for 5 classes     $120 for 10 classes

Sweat Your Prayers™ is a gathering where we bring our individual 5Rhythms practice and move through the rhythms of Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness with intention and in community. Led by select 5Rhythms teachers, the intention of this class is to have relatively little formal instruction, relying on the individual to create and support one’s own and therefore one another’s dance. From exploring the endless boundaries of these 5Rhythms we develop, as Gabrielle often taught, the discipline needed to be a free spirit, and thus the freedom to wholly dance with the sacredness of oneself, another and community.

WEEKLY WAVES

When: Tuesday nights 7-8:30PM
Where: Rockford Grange, 4262 Barrett Dr
Hood River, OR

Cost: $15/class or 5 class card for $65

The rhythms are Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness -  moved together they are the Wave. The class begins with a warmup, this is a time for you to arrive and move - move with the music, your breath, your heartbeat- arriving into your body. Then the instructor will present the content of the evenings class, sometimes focusing on the whole wave and other times it may be the qualities of just one of the rhythms, the class will be a laboratory of movement. There is no need to have any experience to participate, it is a moving meditation for anyone - "if you put the psyche in motion it will heal its self" this is the premise of all of our explorations on the dance floor.

"Sara's classes have taught me how to use my body, through dance, to help process my emotions and connect myself through a meditative version of dance as opposed to the drunken abandon version of dance I learned in my youth. I go whenever I can and always leave in a better mood."
